World No Diet Day- 6 May
Dieting or getting worried about one’s weight is a disturbing thought that inevitably does nothing rather than waste time and reduces chances of doing something productive. It can be very inspirational to hear any healthy eating message but find it difficult to follow then you are not alone. All these advises and messages tells you about ‘what you should be doing’ but does not tells you of ‘how and why you could not do it’, thus leaving us defeated and demotivated to choose living healthily.
Every year on the 6th of May, International No Diet Day is being observed and the celebrations marks the acceptance of our body in its actual form, including fat acceptance and body shape diversity. The movement emphasizes the focus to shed the shame which is associated with having a body that is less perfect. The observance of the International No Diet Day is pushed with the intention of promoting healthy lifestyle for all body types and shapes.
Bodies are beautiful in all shapes – be it a svelte looking or an athletic type. Considering the fact that dieting failures often result in gaining weight, with all of the weight lost being regained in almost every case within a few years. It is thereby important to know and learn facts and relation between weight loss dieting, health and body type.
The way we look at our body affects our eating and lifestyle
Acceptance of our body or body positivity, is one of the root causes of the problem, although both are important in terms of deciding to lose weight and stay healthy and in shape. Hating your own body or feeling uncomfortable with it, can really affect the way what and how much we eat.
Our body weight and demographics fluctuates many a time in our lifetime due to a variety of factors, and it is bound to change. Many of us aspire to stay the same way all through our lives and maintain a stable weight, but that’s unrealistic and is the main reason why people panic when they see the changes. This panic is the root cause, that propagates people to avoid dieting, avoid the foods that they always enjoy, feel hungrier and also at times feel like that they are not eating well enough.
Start loving your body and stop hating
In order to feel comfortable with your body and acknowledge the positive aspects of the current body state, never encourages weight gain and uncontrolled eating habits. Perhaps studies have revealed that by accepting and understanding how beautiful and amazing our bodies are helps in weight reduction and helps controlling the negative emotions that comes along with the hate and the many health issues. It has also been found that many health issues are not only because of extra weight but also because of its fluctuations at regular intervals.
Although accepting your body, where it is at present is not always easy. The attraction of undertaking a meal plan or diet might seem to be an easier choice, but these may have direct consequences on our physical and mental health as well. It might take some time, believe and trust to move body hate to body love, but it is worth the effort.
One of the prominent reasons people fail in their diets is because that they don’t know why exactly they are dieting. You may want to look and feel great or whatever, make yourself a list and put the list in a place you can see it for inspiration, because then you are not likely to give up if you do not quite meet your goals.
